Jefferson Parish

Christmas in Jefferson Parish is a one-of-a-kind experience, featuring light shows, parades, shopping, ice skating and so much more! You will have no trouble getting in the holiday spirit here! Check out our holiday events guide for Jefferson Parish and the surrounding areas below.

- Kenner Christmas Village
  November 25-December 30

Kenner City Park will transform into a festive holiday village with Christmas lights and animated scenery! It will feature ice skating, Santa's workshop, food & shopping, Christmas tree lot, performances and a biergarten!

- Christmas in Lafreniere Park
  December 1-31

Lafreniere Park's beautiful light display features LED lights with fantastic displays such as a lighted 60-foot sea serpent in the lagoon, a princess and her magical castle and the gingerbread man! The park sparkles for the holidays with thousands of twinkling lights and displays. $5.00 per vehicle. The children's carousel will also be open nightly and cost $1.00 per child.

Join the City of Gretna for the Gretna Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony! Meet them at 2nd Street and Huey P. Long Avenue by the arch for a Christmas parade and an evening filled with holiday fun!

Iberia Parish

Get ready to travel around Iberia Parish with a myriad of Magic on Main holiday events for the whole family during December. The New Iberia Downtown Business Association will present the 40th anniversary of the Magic on Main Christmas Parade on Dec. 9. Holiday goers can enjoy “Believe in the Berry” events throughout the day starting at 7 a.m., including a Christmas themed breakfast, the Teche Area Farmers Market, crafts, food trucks, musical performances, lighting of the community Christmas tree, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce's Very Berry Christmas Community Quest, the Shadows on the Teche Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair, and Shop Berry Frozen deals at participating merchants. The Jeanerette Holiday Market will also be held that day at the city's park and Tabasco will hold “A Taste of Christmas” on Avery Island. 

Santa Claus makes his first sightings during the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market at Bayou Carlin Cove and the lighted Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade followed by fireworks in the evening (Dec. 9). On Dec. 3, the jolly man will follow the magical elf trail to the Jeanerette Christmas Parade. before guest staring at the Delcambre Main Street Christmas Parade (Dec. 10). Vermilion Parish

12/2: Delcambre Boat Parade. Boat docks to bridge, Delcambre. A Christmas Parade like no other! The day begins at 7 am with a 5K, followed by Pancakes with Santa from 8-10 am at the Delcambre Shrimp Festival Building. Christmas activities begin at 5 pm at Old Boat Dock with the Boat Parade beginning at 6:30pm with fireworks following the parade. 337-685-2422.

12/7: Abbeville’s 16th Annual Christmas Stroll. Downtown Abbeville. A family-oriented evening of strolling, visiting, shopping and dining. Santa Claus, music, white lights all within the decorated downtown historic district. 5:30-8 pm. Free. 337-898-4110, www.cityofabbeville.net.

12/9: Dutch Oven Cooking at the Park. Palmetto Island State Park, Abbeville. Join the Latanier Cookers for a Dutch oven cooking demonstration and taste testing at noon. 9 am-1 pm. $2 per person to enter the Park. 337-893-2470, 337-501-1533.

12/9: Abbeville’s Christmas Parade. Downtown Abbeville. Enjoy floats decorated for Christmas, marching bands playing holiday favorites and an appearance by Santa Claus. Free. 337-652-0646.

12/9: Movies Under the Oaks: How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Magdalen Square, Abbeville. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the movie. Food and refreshments sold. Movie begins after Christmas Parade. 337-652-6148.

12/16: Le Bayou Legendaire Fall Concert: Michael Juan Nunez & American Electric. Richard Sale Barn, Abbeville. Enjoy the annual Christmas Blues on the Bayou concert in a smoke-free, unique amphitheater setting. Doors open at 6 pm with music starting at 7 pm. Lafourche Parish

Explore Cajun Christmas up and down the Bayou in Lafourche Parish with parades, visits from Santa, and tea parties fit for princesses. Parades and Christmas festivals begin in Lockport with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree followed by caroling and activities for the kids. Travel up the Bayou to Thibodaux and see another unique parade along with more festive events in historic downtown. 

Chez Felicite’ Bed & Breakfast will host a Bayou Christmas Teddy Bear Tea during the month of December. Enjoy a presentation of holiday food, teas, and pastries. Holiday characters will entertain with music and story time followed by a teddy bear parade.


Christmas in Bayou Country is a family affair with Cajun flair. Check out the Downtown Houma Christmas Festival on December 2, 2017 for great local craft vendors, a meeting with Santa Claus, a huge parade complete with floats, bands and stilt walkers! Bring the kids to Southdown Plantation on December 3, 2017 for Reindeer Run, a 5K fun run with a Christmas theme. On December 9, 2017, make your way to the Houma Area Visitors Center for Papa Noël’s Cajun Christmas. Here you will hear great stories such as “A Cajun Night Before Christmas,” make handmade Christmas ornaments and meet Papa Noël, the Cajun French version of Santa Claus. Happy Holidays from Houma!

Lake Charles

Nothing says Christmas quite like a steaming bowl of hot gumbo in Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana. For a taste of a Cajun Christmas, you just have to ask a local where to get the best! The Christmas spirit is alive and well with ballet and theatre performances, concerts and lighting ceremonies. While in the area, you can soak in the beauty of the lake, decorated mansions and live oak trees (strung with twinkling lights) along Shell Beach Drive with the Lake Charles Carriages Christmas Light Rides, running now through Jan. 6 or Vintage Carriage Company Light Tours through Jan. 7. You can also check out a life-sized gingerbread house at L’Auberge Casino Resort or a traditional Gingerbread House Display at the local convention & visitors bureau’s welcome center as well as a Mini Christmas Tree display at the Henning Cultural Center.
