Family Gras Jefferson Parish

Family Gras is an ideal event for children, centered around Jefferson Parish Mardi Gras parades, complete with beautifully designed floats, costumed riders, marching bands, dance teams, and of course, lots of beads!  It is a three-day celebration of carnival, costuming and free concerts.

The 2014 Family Gras event will take place in its traditional location along Veterans Memorial Boulevard between Causeway Blvd. and Severn Avenue.  Dates are Friday, February 21st through Sunday, February 23rd

Friday night Cowboy Mouth kicks the celebration off followed by the pageantry of the Krewe of Excalibur.  Saturday and Sunday promises an eclectic mix of music including local favorite Amanda Shaw, The Orchestra (with former E.L.O. members & E.L.O. Part II members), Wilson Phillips and Montgomery Gentry. The Krewe of Caesar will light the night Saturday and Sunday welcomes the Krewe of Atlas.   The weekend is also filled with fun kid’s activities such as the Andes Rock Climbing Wall and the Bubble Blast.  The Art Market Is filled with Louisiana folk art, jewelry, and carnival wear.  Family Gras food vendors will be cookin’ up great Louisiana fare!  Alligator sausage, crabcakes, and deep fried PB&J to name a few.
